How to Maximize Adsense Earnings

How to Maximize Adsense Earnings

Webmasters know that Adsense generates a sizeable amount of additional advertising income. That is why most webmasters use it to go after high paying keywords. They have with them the lists that tell what the keywords are and have already used various methods of identifying the right words. And yet, after putting up these supposedly high paying keywords into their pages, the money they expected is not really coming in.

What is it that they are doing wrong? Having the pages with the proper keywords is one thing, but driving visitors to those pages is another matter and often the factor that is lacking. The thing is, to get visitors to your high paying keyword pages; you need to optimize your site's navigation.

Stop for a moment and think about how visitors are using your website. After a visitor has landed on a certain page, they have the tendency to click on another page that sounds interesting. They get there because of the other links that appear on a page that they initially landed on. This is site navigation. It is all about enabling visitors to move about your site.

A typical website has menu links on each page. The wording on these links is what grabs a visitor’s attention and gets them to click on one of the links that will take them to another page of that website. Links that have the terms free or download in them are often good attention-grabbers.

This navigation logic can also be applied to driving traffic to your high paying pages. There are some websites that get a lot of traffic from search engines, but have low earnings. The trick is to try and use come cleverly labeled links to get the visitors off that page and steer them to the higher earning ones. This is one great way of turning real cheap clicks to real dollars.

Before you begin testing if this concept will work for you and your website, you need to have two things. A method to track your traffic and some high earning pages you want to funnel your site traffic to. An option is to select a few of your frequently visited pages, thus ensuring fast tracking results.

Now, the next thing to do is think of ways to get visitors viewing a particular page to try and click on the link that will take them to your high earning pages. Come up with a catchy and unique description for the link. Think of something that people do not get to see everyday. That will trigger their curiosity enough to visit and see what that was all about.

You can also use graphics to grab your readers’ attention. There is no limitation to what you can do to make your link noticeable. If you are after the success of your site, you will do everything it takes just to achieve that goal. Just be creative. As far as many Adsense advertisers are concerned, there are no written rules to follow regarding what they write. Just as long as you do not overstep the guidelines of the search engines, then go for it.

Also remember that it is all about location, location and location. Once the perfect attention grabbing description has been achieved, you have to identify the perfect spot on your page to position that descriptive link to your high paying page. There is nothing wrong with visiting other websites to see how they are going about maximizing their site navigation. “Hot pages” or “Most read” lists are very common and overly used already. Get to know the ones that many websites are using and do not try to imitate them.

Another way of doing it is to use different text fonts on different pages. That way you will see the ones that work and what does not. Try to mix things around also. Put links on top and sometimes on the bottom too. This is how you go about testing which ones get more clicks and which ones are being ignored.

Let the testing begin. Testing and tracking until you find the site navigation style that works best for you site.

Making Your Own YouTube Videos

Making Your Own YouTube Videos

Are you a fan of YouTube? If you enjoy watching free videos online, from a number of different genres, you may be a huge fan of YouTube. Although many internet users only watch videos on YouTube, there are many who also post their own YouTube videos. If you have never done so before, you may be wondering whether or not you really should. To determine whether or not you should make and upload your own videos to the YouTube website, you will want to examine the advantages or the plus sides to doing so.

Perhaps, the biggest advantage to making your own YouTube videos is that your videos can be just about whatever you want them to be. Popular videos on YouTube right now include comedy skits, video blogs, how-to videos, and music videos from up and coming artists. Whether you want to make a video blog of yourself or if you and your friends want to just have fun with a video camera, you can do so.

Of course, when making a YouTube video you will want to use your best judgment. Although YouTube accepts videos on a wide variety of different subjects, you will want to proceed with caution. You should always be cautious of online predators; therefore, you will want to be cautious about divulging too much information about yourself. You might not necessarily think about it, but you also want to make sure that you do not record and post anything illegal on YouTube. It has been said that YouTube regularly works with law enforcement to help solve crimes. That just goes to show that you never really know who is watching your videos or what the consequences for posting them might be.

Another one of the many advantages or pros to making your own YouTube videos is that it is relatively easy to do. Of course, you will need to have a video recording device. What is nice is that there are a number of different recording devices that you can use. For instance, many cell phones now come equipped with video recording capabilities. In addition to cell phones, you should also be able to use traditional camcorders or webcams. For the best quality YouTube video, you will want to have a movie editing software program. Movie editing software programs will not only give you the ability to preview your videos, before uploading them to YouTube, but you should also be able to edit them, if you would like to remove something and so on.

Once you made one of your videos and uploaded it onto your computer, you will find that getting your video uploaded to YouTube’s website is just as easy. In fact, that is another one of the many advantages to making your own YouTube videos. Just like actually making the video itself, uploading a YouTube video is as easy at it can be. If you have never uploaded a video to YouTube before, you should be able to do, with ease. The YouTube uploading learning curve is so easy that you if you continue to make videos for the YouTube website you will be uploading them and sharing them with the internet community in no time at all.

Another benefit of making your own videos and uploading them to YouTube comes after the fact. After you have uploaded your videos to YouTube and they are available for viewing, anyone with an internet connection can visit the YouTube website to view your videos. This means that just one of you videos may be seen by thousands of people! In fact, if those viewers are registered members of YouTube they can rate your YouTube videos or even leave comments for you. This feature is nice because it gives you positive and sometimes even negative feedback; feedback that can be taken into consideration if and when you choose to make any more YouTube videos.

As you can see, there are a number of advantages to making your own videos to share on YouTube. As you likely know, there are also a number of disadvantages to doing so as well, including safety. However, as long as you display caution when making a YouTube video or when talking with other YouTube members, your YouTube video making experience should be a positive one.

Don Jeffre Advertising for Free

Advertising for Free

Advertising for free seems like an impossible thing when heard. But there are several ways by which the cost of advertisement can be conserved, with the help of some imagination and creativity.

A business wanting to advertise, can write articles related to their field of expertise that can be submitted to media and publications having interest in that particular field. The advertising article can have information about the company and dealership opportunity. Due to the rise in Internet users and websites, new websites have sprung up which offer free services. Articles can be written for these websites and they can be broadcasted for free, which will be viewed by hundreds of people everyday.

Once the business has gained some recognition, within no time it will gain popularity also among the crowds. This popularity can lead to them being invited on radio and television talk shows and even to interviews. Such kind of opportunities should not be missed as they provide a chance for free promotion. If it is taking a long time to get a break, the producer can be addressed with a letter that can be followed up by a telephone call or in-person visit. During the visit, the nature of expertise can be discussed about the business, which will be of interest to the viewers of the particular channel. Once a businessperson gains the status of being public-friendly, more offers start pouring in.

Free bulletin board located in the neighborhood, like in grocery stores, libraries, and salons, are another good idea. Advertising circulars can be posted on such boards for free. Circulars for mass distribution can be handed out at the mall, shopping center, bus stops, particularly on weekends when there is a big rush. Students can be hired on part time basis for this purpose.

Promotional advertisement can be printed on the envelopes used by the business firms. Both the sender and the receiver can view this advertisement. Promotional offers can be sent to customers by postcards, which should be utilized to its full, leaving only place left for writing the address.

Some of the new mail order publications offer free first time and seasonal deductions for advertisers. Other publications offer pay per inquiry space. Inquiries can be made about stand-by space, which means that the publication holds the submission of advertisement until the space is not sold and in that case, thirty three percent saving can be achieved. Usually local newspapers provide these kinds of offers.

If the business is involved in ad sheet or catalog publishing, other publishers can be contacted for the purpose of bartering an advertising exchange. They can place advertisement in their publication, in return for placing their advertisement in the business’s publication.

Free offers can be provided to the customer. This can be done by emailing or printing newsletter about information regarding the area of interest of the targeted customers and can be made popular by using tag lines. Attach a free coupon with it, which the customers can use it for shopping, if a criterion is met like minimum purchase of $ 50. By this the response will be huge and most of them will purchase something or the other to avail the free offer. The basic ingredient for advertising for free is imagination and research. Opportunities should be searched and a strong working force should be applied to increase the sales.

7 Simple SEO Tips That Will Help Your Search Engine Rankings

7 Simple SEO Tips That Will Help Your Search Engine Rankings

With so much SEO advice being dispensed nowadays, its hard to know what you should or shouldnt believe. It can be especially difficult for Internet Marketing newbies to separate the wheat from the chaff, however, there ARE proven SEO tips and techniques that virtually every SEO expert agrees work and are very effective.

Following are 7 simple SEO tips that will help your search engine rankings:

1. Have Fast-Loading Pages

You may not be aware of this, but page load-speed is now one of the more than 200 signals Google uses to determine the ranking of web pages in the search results. As a result, it is more important than ever that your pages load quickly. Slow loading pages are annoying to searchers and affect their ability to access content quickly. This is viewed as a negative user-experience by Google and can have an adverse effect on your rankings.

You can quickly check your page speed at Page Speed Online, a free web application offered by Googlelabs. This tool tests the speed of your page and gives it a score from 1-100, based on the performance of your page. The Page Speed Score indicates how much faster a page could be. A high score indicates little room for improvement, while a lower score indicates more room for improvement. In other words, the higher the score, the better. The Page Speed Score does not measure the time it takes for a page to load – just whether or not it loads quickly. Here are some things you can do to speed up your pages:

o Avoid Redirects – a common redirect that many designers use is unintentional – they leave off the trailing slash on a URL which forces a redirect to the directory name with the slash. Redirects also happen when you move a page or site – change the URL to point to the new location when you link to a redirected page.

o Avoid 404s – while a useful 404 page is important for your customers experience on your site, you dont want to link to them, as they generate another HTTP request that provides no value. This is especially important with images on your page.

o Optimize Images – keep the images small. (Source: How to Speed Up Web Pages)

2. The Trust Factor

Believe it or not, the trustworthiness of your site – or lack thereof, has an effect on your rankings. So the more things you can do to make your site appear trustworthy, the better. Some steps you can take to improve the trustworthiness of your site include having a clear privacy policy if you collect personal information. Tell people what you are going to do with their information. They have a right to know.

Also, at the very least, provide an e-mail address on your site for customers to contact you. In addition, create an About Us page. Provide the names of the owner(s) and employees, if you have any. Be sure to include pictures and brief biographies. The worst thing you can do is give the appearance you want to be anonymous, which obviously generates suspicion.

And do not underestimate the power of testimonials. Just make sure they are legitimate and verifiable. Otherwise, you risk getting into trouble with the FTC.

3. Create an Effective Title-Tag

The title tag is a critically important factor in achieving high search engine rankings. For those of you who do not know what a title-tag is, it is the words displayed at the top of your browser. It is also used as the title of your website in the SERPs (search engine results pages). Therefore, you should put plenty of thought into writing your title tag – to make sure its as effective as possible. Your title-tag should also contain specific keyword phrases, in addition to the name of your company.

For example, suppose your company name is ABC Home Remodeling, a home remodeling company in New York, you would want your companys website to appear in the search engine results for searches on phrases such as New York home remodeling and home remodeling in New York. If you prefer to work with homeowners only in the Albany area, you would need to be geographically specific in your title-tag. For example, Albany home remodeling.

What about meta-tags? Arent they important too? Opinions vary on the importance of meta-tags, but in my opinion, they are not as important as they once were. They wont have a significant impact on your rankings one way or the other. But if you want to use them, it certainly wont hurt anything – provided you dont abuse them (i.e. keyword stuffing).

4. Publish Quality, Relevant Content

In case you havent heard, sites like EzineArticles, Buzzle and Associated Content got absolutely hammered by the recent Panda update. But why? Those sites have been around for years, and have a ton of quality content. Unfortunately, much of their content is also low-quality. When explaining the Panda update, Google said it was important for high-quality sites to be rewarded. By punishing the titans of article directories, Google sent a powerful message about quality.

But its not enough to just publish quality content. Your content also needs to be relevant to the overall theme of your site. Google places a tremendous amount of value on relevancy. So do everything you can to make sure your pages are as relevant as possible and accurately reflect your sites actual content.

5. Syndicate Your Content

Content syndication is a simple, effective and proven SEO method. When I say content syndication, Im referring to two types of syndication in particular: RSS feeds and article submission. RSS (an acronym for Really Simple Syndication) syndicates your web content, making it easily accessible to other sites and helps build inbound links, making RSS an extremely powerful SEO strategy.

If you use any of the popular blogging platform like Blogger or Wordpress, you already have a built-in RSS feed. If your website doesnt have a built-in RSS feed and you’re technically savvy, you can create your own by following the instructions in Anatomy of an RSS File. Or, if youre technically challenged like I am, you can use a service like RapidFeeds.com.

Article submission is the second type of content syndication I referred to. Basically, there are two ways you can submit your articles. 1. To article directories and 2. Directly to publishers. I prefer to submit my articles directly to publishers because it gives me control over where my articles are published.

If you submit to article directories, theres a good chance your article will get buried among the thousands of other article submissions. In addition, once submitted, your articles are available to be published by anyone. That means your articles have the very real potential of being published by low-quality sites, which could effectively damage your sites reputation with the search engines.

6. Authority, Authority, Authority

Authority sites are considered authoritative for a reason. Its because people trust their content. Thats why authority sites rank so highly in Googles SERPs.

So what exactly is an authority site?

Definitions vary, but my own personal definition of an authority site is a site that is linked to and respected by thousands of people who often reference its material.

Authority sites have quality content and consistently show keyword to content relevancy. If you write articles, instead of submitting them to article directories which have diminishing link value, instead, submit them to top authority sites like Problogger, SiteProNews, WebProNews, PromotionWorld, Copyblogger, SearchEngineJournal and others. And while it might be considerably more difficult to get your articles accepted and published by those sites, the fact that Google places such high value on links from authority sites makes it worth the effort.

7. Social Networking Matters

While only Google knows for sure how much of an impact social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and others actually have on search results, the fact that it is providing real-time social sharing is an indication that Google takes participation in social networking sites seriously. And if Google takes social networking seriously, then, common sense suggests, social networking participation will help your SEO efforts.

By Gray Pilgrim Converting Your Website Visitors One Small Step at a Time

Converting Your Website Visitors One Small Step at a Time

The ultimate goal of most websites is to collect leads and/or make sales. Which makes them important conversion points to measure with your web analytics program. Leads and sales are also the reason why I’m a huge proponent of optimizing services and products pages.

If a Google searcher lands directly on a page that is selling what they want, there’s a strong likelihood that this will convert into a lead or a sale. Leads and sales often come with a high price tag and are what I call “large conversions.” Any conversion that potentially costs money is going to be harder to get than one that is free.

And let’s face it, not everyone is in the market to buy right now. Some are just looking for information about your particular industry. Others may be trying to learn how to do for themselves what you are doing. And still others may be doing research for sometime in the future when they may be in the market.

Serve Them Value-Added Content

Adding value to your website through free articles, blog posts, videos, and any other type of content that may be helpful to those at the not-ready-to-buy-yet stage, is a great way to gain extra traffic. The problem (if you want to call it that) with all this “value-added” content is that it brings those very people who will rarely convert into a lead or a sale. They’re mainly there to partake of your free information. They want answers to their questions, and once they get them, they leave your website with nothing to show for it other than a “100% bounce rate” mention in your analytics report.

Converting the Freeloaders

Rather than having them bounce off your website, you should be trying to convert them in some small way. That is, providing you’re not-in-the-market-right-now site visitors (or freeloaders!) with one or more quick, painless (ideally measurable) actions they can take. These could be anything that keeps them connected to you and/or your website in some way – signing up for your free email newsletter, following you on Twitter, “liking” your Facebook page, subscribing to your YouTube channel, etc.

Be sure to feature your conversion points prominently where your free content lives.

For instance, at the bottom of every article or post add call-to-action wording such as:

“If you liked this blog post, let us email you when we’ve posted others.”

“If you want to learn more about _____, sign up for our weekly newsletter.”

“If you want to stay abreast of what’s going on in ______, be sure to follow us on Twitter.”

Clearly State the Obvious

Another type of small conversion is to get the visitor to at least click through to your services or product pages. For instance, if you have a lot of how-to content that shows people the ins and outs of the very services you offer – make sure it’s extremely clear that you don’t just teach it, but that you also provide the service. (You’d be surprised how many people don’t realize it!) There will always be some people who decide that doing it themselves is too daunting a task.

Make sure those folks see prominent and simple directions to your services pages by saying something like:

“Learn how we can help you do ______ today!”

Small Conversions Keep You Connected

Of course, if you’re going to prominently feature small, quick and painless conversion points, it’s essential that you follow through with your promises. If you promise you’ll provide industry updates on Twitter, then you darn well better do it fairly often. If you told them you’d send email when you posted new articles and they don’t hear from you for 2 months, then you’re not keeping up with your end of the bargain. It’s important to continuously give them what you said you would. Nothing undermines your credibility faster than collecting their email addresses and Twitter handles and then giving them to your sales team to start breathing down their necks. (Remember, they’re not in the market to buy now anyway!)

Pay Attention to Low Conversion Rates

If you are prominently featuring small conversions on your website but not seeing much action, it could mean that your content isn’t providing what the visitor hoped it would. Or worse, it could mean that it’s just not very good. This is common if you’re creating your content for search engines, not people. After all, why would people want to be notified when you’ve added more crap content? Take your low conversion numbers to heart and invest in content that fulfills a real need.

Small Conversions Can Lead to Big Ones

The whole idea of having small conversion points where people sign up to hear from you regularly is so that you will always be at the top of their mind and not forgotten a few minutes after they leave your website. Today’s not-in-the-market-at-the-moment guy or gal may one day be a ready-to-buy-now guy or gal. When they make their Jekyll to Hyde switch, you want them to feel that there’s nobody they’d rather purchase from than the one who’s been nurturing them along from the very beginning of their quest – YOU!
